The Rail Safety Regulators' Panel (RSRP) has released the draft guideline
'Safety Management System Guidance for Tourist and Heritage Rail Transport Operators' for industry consultation.

As with other national draft guidelines released by the RSRP, we ask that Victorian industry representatives submit feedback to PTSV for collation.


*Note: Victorian tourist & heritage operators should continue to refer to the Victorian Safety Management System (SMS) Handbook for Tourist and Heritage Operators, available on the
rail safety publications page.

PTSV has developed a draft rail safety guideline on rollingstock procurement for industry consultation.


The guideline will apply to Victorian rail operators accredited under the Rail Safety Act 2006.

The Rail Safety Regulators' Panel (RSRP) has developed a Notification of Change and Variation of Accreditation Guideline to support the national model Rail Safety Bill. This draft guideline has been developed with the assistance of a dedicated reference group comprising representatives from rail safety regulator offices and the Australian rail industry.

Industry comment is being sought by the safety regulator in each state and territory on behalf of the RSRP.

PTSV will not be progressing the Guide on the Preparation of an Emergency Plan as the Rail Industry Safety and Standards Board (RISSB) have agreed to develop a guideline on behalf of industry.
